Q1: About NIELIT?

NIELIT(National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology):

  National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), formerly known as the DOEACC Society, is a society that offers information technology training at different levels. It is associated with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India, was set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities in the area of Information, Electronics & Communications Technology (IECT). NIELIT is engaged both in Formal & Non-Formal Education in the area of IECT besides development of industry oriented quality education and training programmes in the state-of-the-art areas. NIELIT has endeavoured to establish standards to be the country’s premier institution for Examination and Certification in the field of IECT. It is also one of the National Examination Body, which accredits institutes/organizations for conducting courses in IT in the non-formal sector.

Q2: What is the main role of NIELIT?

They are actually providing security services to government websites. 

It means cyber security, internet security and cloud computing are the major security areas.

Q3: How is differ from the GATE syllabus?

It contains GATE syllabus as well as some other subjects and they also removed GATE subject TOC. 

And added extra technical subjects and general aptitude questions

  4. Information Systems and Software Engineering
  5. System Software
  6. Object Oriented Programming
  7. Analog and Digital Communication
  8. Electrical Engineering

General Aptitude: Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning Capabilities, Quantitative and Qualitative abilities, General Aptitude

Q4: What is the package and satisfaction?

The package starts from around 70k to 80K for Scientist-B and 50K to 60K for Scientific Assistance-A.

NIC working centers are mostly located in Top most cities in India. So, you will get all facilities and also get real time experience. 

Q5: Is it a Gazetted Job?

Ans: Yes, it is Gazetted.

Q6: Is there any difference between ISRO Scientist-B and NIC Scientist-B?

Ans: There is no difference between ISRO and NIC scientist-B. Moreover NIC Scientist-B given level-10 but ISRO Scientist-B has not been mentioned yet.

Q7: What is the difference between Scientist-B and Scientific Assistant-A in terms of syllabus?

Ans: Syllabus is almost same except few subjects like 

  1. Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies
  2. Cloud Technology
  3. Analog and Digital Communication
  4. Electrical Engineering

Q8: Negative marking for questions?

Ans: Yes, 1/4th negative marking.

Q9: Can we apply for both jobs?

Ans: Yes, we can apply both jobs and examinations timings are different. 

Q10: What is the weightage for part-A and part-B?

Part-A having 35% and Part-B having 65%.

Total number of questions is 120 and each question carries 1 mark. 

Q11: Duration of exam?

Ans: Both exams have 3 hours duration.

Q12: Calculator available?

Ans: No, they will not allow calculators. 

Q13: Are you provided test series and previous year answers?

Ans: Yes, we are given all previous year question papers and test series also available. 

Test series starts from March-1, 2020.

Q14: What are the good books for these subjects?

Ans: GATE subjects have same syllabus and use same author books,

  4. Information Systems and Software Engineering → R.pressman and Somerville
  5. System Software → System Software: An Introduction to Systems Programming, 3e by BECK (Author)
  6. Object Oriented Programming →  Timothy Budo, ”An Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming with Java”, Pearson Education, 2009.
  7. Analog and Digital Communication → Modern Digital and Analog Communication Systems by B. P. Lathi
  8. Electrical Engineering → Network analysis by A Sudhakar and Shyam mohan palli

General Aptitude: Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning Capabilities, Quantitative and Qualitative abilities, General Aptitude → R.S. Agarwal. 

Q15: Preparation strategy to clear this exam?

Ans: 40% syllabus is GATE and 60% syllabus is other than GATE exam. 

So, you have to focus on general paper more and learn by order.

Q16: Final year students are eligible or not?

Ans: If you have received the degree/provisional certificate as on closing date of application(26-March-2020), can apply.
